What’s the Season System?

The Season Merge System is one of WoonRO’s most innovative features — designed to blend the excitement of fresh starts with the long-term stability players expect from a lasting RO server. It’s our answer to a long-standing challenge in the Ragnarok community: How can we keep things fresh for returning players, without invalidating the time and effort others have already put in?

A Word from the Developer

Hello everyone! I'm Nihad — a game developer and part of the RO scene since before 2009.

I've worked on several projects over the years, but WoonRO has always been the one closest to my heart. Many of the custom systems I've developed have been adapted by other servers, but my main goal has always remained the same: To offer players a stable, long-lasting place to return to — one where your hard work is respected and preserved.

Managing a large-scale server can be stressful, but after all these years, knowing that players still enjoy what I’ve built makes it worth it. That's why I created the Season System: a way to give both new and veteran players something to be excited about — while ensuring nothing is lost along the way.

How It Works

A Season is a near-identical copy of the main server — a fresh game mode where everyone starts from scratch.

  • No pre-existing items
  • No carried-over zeny
  • No old characters

The experience is focused entirely on new progression: leveling up, gearing, and growing together from the ground up — just like the early days of RO.

What Happens When the Season Ends?

Once a season concludes, everything you’ve earned — your characters, gear, levels, zeny, even donations — is merged back into the main server. No effort is wasted. You keep what you’ve worked for.

This gives players a way to enjoy seasonal progression without the fear of a wipe or reset.

Why Use a Season System?

This concept isn’t new — it’s used in games like Diablo and Archeage. It’s perfect for players who enjoy the thrill of a fresh start, while still respecting the time and value of long-term play.

Seasons also offer a great way for new players to jump in without being far behind — and for veterans to return with something meaningful to do.

How Often Are Seasons Released?

Each season typically lasts around 6-12 months. At the end of the season, the community will be consulted on how to proceed with the next one — whether through a vote, or based on activity.

During the merge phase, all servers are temporarily taken down for maintenance to ensure all data is preserved and safely transferred.

In Summary

  • Seasons offer fresh, fast-paced progression
  • All progress is merged into the main server after the season ends
  • Your characters, items, and efforts are never lost
  • It’s a system made for both new players and returning veterans

This is our way of building a long-lasting server — one that keeps evolving, but never forgets where you started.

WoonRO Archives
Season Log-in changes
1 or Ragnaland Uses normal login system
2 Uses same accounts and characters with a "!" in front of them.

↳ If your username or character was Poring, it would now be !Poring

3 Uses same accounts and characters with a "@" in front of them.

↳ if your username or character was Poring, it would now be @Poring

4 Uses same accounts and characters with a "#" in front of them.

↳ if your username or character was Poring, it would now be #Poring

5 Uses same accounts and characters with a "$" in front of them.

↳ if your username or character was Poring, it would now be $Poring (please refer to Season 5 Issues)

What is Transferred?

  • Transferred data: Accounts, characters, inventories, guilds, storages, cart inventories, skills, homunculus, pets, rebirth table, account variables

Make sure you patch and you can select the archives server from the server selection screen.

If you do not know your login info, there is an NPC in the NPC Zone in the reception area called account recover.

You can use it to look up any accounts you may have used in previous seasons.
