The Story of WoonRO: From Foundation to Season 6

WoonRO, a mid-rate Ragnarok Online private server, has been at the heart of the RO private server community for over a decade. Founded by Nihad in 2009, WoonRO has grown through constant innovation, community engagement, and the efforts of a talented team — including Daifuku, who joined in 2017 to help refine the player experience.

How It All Began

In 2009, Nihad launched WoonRO with the vision of creating a Ragnarok Online server that balanced the nostalgic charm of classic RO with the excitement of fresh, custom content. By prioritizing fair gameplay, stability, and a welcoming atmosphere, WoonRO quickly gained a loyal following and established itself as a respected mid-rate server.

Nihad's Role as a Developer

Nihad has been active in the Ragnarok Online development scene since before 2009 — contributing to the Hercules and rAthena communities and building custom features and systems that not only defined WoonRO but inspired other servers.

Among his most notable innovations is the Season System, which allows players to enjoy fresh seasonal starts, with progress merging into the main server afterward — blending short-term fun with long-term investment.

Collaboration and Growth (2017–2021)

In 2017, Daifuku joined the team, taking on visuals, community engagement, and event direction. While Nihad focused on technical development, Daifuku worked to shape the look, feel, and flow of the server — from NPCs to Discord to branding.

Together, they created a more polished and engaging experience for players while preserving the spirit of classic RO.

WoonRO wouldn’t be what it is today without many passionate contributors over the years. Notable names include:

Chi, Dumpling, Fanoe, Grey, Lobo, Lostac, Neffi, Rambo, Raziel, Ridley, Roy, Seffi, Shourei, Smokie, Tenko, Tidal — and countless others. Each brought ideas, skill, and time to shape the game players know and love.

A Return for Season 6

In 2021, Daifuku stepped away to focus on large-scale community projects. Now in 2025, she returns for Season 6 to help polish systems, visuals, and presentation. Though no longer serving as an admin, she remains involved in supporting both the team and the players.
